Make-up Trends 2021

Okay, 2020 definitely didn’t go as planned – and I know I’m not the only one feeling a little hopeless right now. The only thing that raises my mood from all of this? Form. TBH, I think now, more than ever, is the perfect time to experiment with new makeup, try bold colors and just do anything with your look. Think about it: you can rock a little makeup in your house and snap pictures for your insta, or you can spend time perfecting skills you usually don’t have the patience for (awesome, floating eyeliner).

After following feeds from beauty gurus, makeup artists, and celebrities for months, I’ve rounded up the biggest makeup trends of 2020 that are worth trying out during and after quarantine. Prepare to scan these looks on your phone – these 2020 makeup trends are (and will) be everywhere.

This colorful makeup trend for the bottom liner

Instead of having all the fun on your top lash line, try this 2020 makeup trend instead. All you have to do is outline your lower lashes with either the same color or a lighter shade than the upper one. It’s a super easy way to add a fun element to your look.

This eye shadow trend with animal print

It’s time to channel your inner Carole Baskin and rock this 2020 makeup trend. IMO, whether you’re a fan of animal prints or not, you can’t deny that this look is super creative and cool AF. Warning: this is pretty intense. So if you are a newbie to makeup, you may need to take a little more time to perfect the look.

This shiny eyeshadow trend

About powder eyeshadows? This 2020 makeup trend – aka shiny eyelids – looks just as fiery as any sultry smokey eye. And it takes about half the time. Add a few dots of eyegloss just above your lash line, then use your finger to blend it towards your crease.

This bright mascara makeup trend

It’s time to take a break from your black mascara and experiment with this 2020 makeup trend – a colored shade on your lashes. If you don’t think you can pull off a light pink mascara like this, apply a deep blue or green mascara instead. They look neutral at first glance, but anyway people get a double attitude.

This neon makeup trend

Even as someone who loves to work with their makeup the most, the all-over neon trend you saw on your feed gets a little tiring. Thankfully, things are getting a fresh, minimalist makeover with this 2020 makeup trend. Instead of brushing a neon shadow all over your eyelid, try patting a neon shadow in the corner of your eye for a quick pop of color.

This pink lip makeup trend

Forget a fat red lip. This 2020 makeup trend is about making a statement with a light pink lipstick, like Candice Swanepoel is doing here. Not sure which shade of pink to try? Go for a hot pink with blue undertones – it looks good on everyone. And if you want your pink to last a long time, go for a matte lipstick over a creamy one.

This floating eyeliner makeup trend

Your eyeliner no longer has to stick to the lash line. Grab a liner and color off the lines by recreating this 2020 makeup trend: a floating liner look seen here on Shay Mitchell. They’re going to give off big cool-girl vibes with little effort, whatever the goal, right?

This watercolor makeup trend

This watercolor eye on Hunter Schafer is probably the most beautiful 2020 makeup trend that you are about to see. It’s soft, playful and so, so dreamy. And you don’t have to commit to just one color, either. Choose one color for your inner corner, another for the center of your lid, and a final color for the outer third of your lid. In the end, you get a cool multicolor look like this one.
